Thieves in Hamilton Steal 10 Cars from Dealership, $3,000 in Keys

In an alarming incident that has left the Hamilton community in shock, three individuals are now facing serious charges after a daring theft of ten cars from a dealership. This incident, which unfolded in May, serves as a another reminder of the importance of robust security measures in car dealerships and other vulnerable establishments.

The Unfolding of the Theft

According to the Hamilton police report, the primary accused, Jason Kosher, orchestrated a series of thefts by breaking into the dealership and stealing keys from a safe to multiple vehicles. The plan was executed with alarming efficiency, as Kosher's girlfriend, Nicole Hibbard-Doyle, acted as his accomplice. She repeatedly drove him back to the dealership, enabling him to drive off with a total of ten cars.

The stolen vehicles were dispersed across the city, causing a significant stir among residents and law enforcement alike. Fortunately, nine of the ten cars were eventually recovered, although the ordeal highlighted significant lapses in security protocols at the dealership.

Arrest and Charges

The apprehension of the suspects was as dramatic as the theft itself. Hibbard-Doyle was caught inside one of the stolen cars at a Sunoco gas station, while Kosher was discovered hiding in the beer cooler of the same establishment. The duo's attempts to evade capture only added to the gravity of their offenses.

Both Kosher and Hibbard-Doyle are now facing multiple charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle. Kosher is additionally charged with breaking and entering, as well as safecracking, which suggests a more extensive criminal operation. A third individual, Gary Mathis, has also been charged with safecracking in connection to the incident, indicating that the theft was not a solo act but rather a coordinated effort.

The Importance of Security

This incident underscores the critical need for more security measures in car dealerships. The fact that the thieves were able to repeatedly access the dealership and steal multiple vehicles points to significant vulnerabilities. We recommend dealerships must invest in advanced security systems, including surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and secure key storage solutions such as the iSafe Pro 6.0.

Additionally, employee training on security protocols and regular audits of security measures can help identify and address potential weaknesses. The incident at this dealership should serve as a call for other dealerships to reassess and strengthen their security frameworks to protect against similar threats.

The theft of ten cars by Jason Kosher and his accomplices has left a lasting impact on the Hamilton community. While law enforcement's swift action led to the recovery of some of the stolen vehicles and the apprehension of the suspects, the incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures in vulnerable establishments. As the legal proceedings unfold, it is hoped that this incident will lead to greater awareness and proactive measures to prevent such crimes in the future.

By taking these steps, businesses can safeguard their assets and contribute to a safer community, ensuring that incidents like this become a thing of the past.
