DES PLAINES - A key management system was pried open in seconds at a dealership outside of Chicago, resulting in over $500,000 of vehicles stolen, and over 130 keys stolen.
Surveillance video shows 2 suspects breaking the front door glass with a sledgehammer, and immediately heading toward the key system. The pry tool used in the video looks to be as small as a screwdriver, but allowed the thief to successfully pry open the key box, and steal all of the keys.
The dealership owner is fed up with the increased crime around Chicago, and plans to move his business out of state. This is the 5th break in he has experienced. A police report has been filed, but nobody is currently in custody.
